| ACPPA's Community Art Center provides affordable afterschool arts education to residents of the Greater Norristown Area. Partnering with area organizations such as the Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library, New Life Child & Family Development Center, Norristown Family Center, Grace AfterSchool, and Conshohocken Library, we are able to provide these classes where the children and their families already are. The goals or our Community Art Center are: Positively influence and inspire the youth of Norristown… instill a positive sense of self through the creative process and self expression...provide exposure to diverse cultural experiences...employ professional artists that go beyond teaching, they mentor Dig deeper to go farther…offer a comprehensive approach to exploring the arts, encouraging students to push themselves to take risks both within the classroom and within themselves Make arts education accessible…offer classes, workshops, and performances at an affordable cost to Norristown families, in addition to sponsored spaces for deserving families Celebrate the arts…provide support for teaching artists within our community... celebrate creative and intellectual achievements of area artists, performers, and cultural organizations Our mission is not necessarily to create artists; we want to guide young individuals through creative exploration, problem solving, and self expression to become innovative thinkers who have found strength in their voice. |
